The Lowry Foundation Community Investment

Starbright Fund
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.
Direct investment into the Lowry community has been an integral part of the ethic of The Lowry Foundation. Since 2002, The Lowry Foundation has provided thousands of dollars that are invested directly into local projects in education, art, theater, and events run by local organizations. The investments were made by way of competitive grants and donations. The intent of this grantmaking (Community Grant Program) has been to direct funds into the community for projects that will enrich life in Lowry.
For example, in 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Lowry Foundation raised money from Lowry residents and other organizations to launch its #KeepLowryStrong COVID Relief Fund. Over a short period of time, this fund raised and awarded nearly $20,000 in grants to Lowry residents, workers, and organizations that sought relief from problems created by the pandemic. In 2021, the Foundation gave grants to Denver Urban Garden, George Washington High School, John Hand Theater, Lowry Reads, and Reach Out and Read Colorado, totaling just over $5,000.
The Foundation took a break from grantmaking in 2022 to revamp the Program and rebrand it to launch in the 25th Anniversary year, 2023. This year, with the help of seed funding from an anonymous, generous donor, we are launching the Starbright Fund to raise money and create partnerships to invest in our community, whether it be capital improvement projects, building social connections, and/or supporting educational opportunities. As we look into the future, the Foundation is excited to serve as a catalyst that makes things happen in Lowry for years to come.
We invite you to participate in our community input process this year to share your aspirations for Lowry, hopes for the future, and what is needed and desired. We will be hosting several community roundtables this year to hear from you. Please email us to join our email list so you can stay updated with events and other input opportunities (you are already on the email list if you receive our monthly e-newsletter). Encourage your Lowry neighbors and friends to email us, too. Working together, we can make many wishes for Lowry come true.
