Poetry has no single definition, but we believe that music with lyrics is a form of poetry, presented in a musical template. The intermingling of words and melody has historic potency and has been going on for centuries. In this course, Music is Poetry, we’ll discuss the concept of poetry and explore songs of four iconic singer-songwriters to show how music can be poetry. We’ll examine poetic devices in both songs and poems. Expect plenty of music through audio and video as we dive into the work of some of the best songwriters of the 20th century!
